The Las Vegas Grand Prix Returns November 19–21, 2026

For the fourth year in a row, Formula 1 takes over Las Vegas Boulevard. The 2026 Las Vegas Grand Prix runs Thursday, November 19 through Saturday, November 21, on a 3.8-mile, 17-turn street circuit that races past Caesars Palace, the Bellagio fountains, and the Sphere. It’s a night race: the lights go out at 8:00 PM Pacific on Saturday.

That makes race week one of the biggest weeks on the Las Vegas calendar. The 2024 race brought an estimated $934 million into the local economy, and organizers expect 2025 and 2026 to top it. Whether you’re an F1 fan who wants to get married on race weekend or a couple who picked a November date before you knew the race was on, here’s what to plan around.

2026 Session Times

Race Weekend at a Glance

All times Pacific. Every on-track session runs from late afternoon into the night, so mornings stay free for a ceremony.

Thu, Nov 19

4:30 PM & 8:00 PM

Practice 1 & Practice 2

The first two practice sessions open race weekend. A Thursday morning ceremony gives you a full day to celebrate before the cars hit the track that evening.

Fri, Nov 20

4:30 PM & 8:00 PM

Practice 3 & Qualifying

Final practice in the afternoon, then qualifying under the lights. Friday is a popular choice for fans who want the ceremony and the race on separate days.

Sat, Nov 21

The Race

Lights out at 8 PM. A sunrise or late-morning ceremony still leaves plenty of time to get back to the city, change, and be trackside or at a watch party before the start.

Planning a Wedding Around the Race

If F1 is the reason you’re in Las Vegas, race week is a memorable time to get married. A few things make it easier:

Get your marriage license early in the trip. The Clark County Marriage License Bureau is downtown, well north of the circuit, and open 8 AM to midnight every day, including race week. Picking it up Wednesday or Thursday morning keeps it off your plate once sessions start. There’s no waiting period, so you can marry the same day.

Have your ceremony in the morning. Nothing runs on track before 4:30 PM on any day of race weekend. A sunrise desert elopement at Valley of Fire, followed by brunch and an afternoon nap, still gets you to the grandstands in time. It also gets you in and out of the Strip before the evening road closures.

Plan your photos with the track in mind. Strip photo spots near the circuit are fenced, crowded, and closed off in the evenings during race week. If you want city-lights portraits, schedule them away from the track (downtown and Fremont Street work well), or book them after the race weekend. Desert venues give you open space and golden light with no grandstands in the shot.

Keep the theme small. Checkered-flag details, team colors in the bouquet ribbon, or a quick photo in your team kit after the ceremony are fun touches. Most fans find a nod to the race works better than a full theme.

If You Just Picked a November Date

What Race Week Means for Everyone Else

Not a racing fan? Race week still affects your trip if you’re getting married in mid-to-late November, especially if your guests are staying on the Strip.

Traffic and road closures. Track construction started in early September and teardown runs into December, with lane reductions on and around Las Vegas Boulevard, Harmon Avenue, Koval Lane, and Flamingo Road. During race week, circuit roads close each evening for sessions. Organizers post live closure maps at transportation.f1lasvegasgp.com, and you can text F1LV to 31996 for updates. If your guests need rides between hotels and the ceremony, consider booking wedding transportation with a driver who knows the detours.

Hotel prices. Race-week prices aren’t what they were. Rates were very high for the first race in 2023, then fell two years in a row: reported race-weekend accommodation costs were about 24% lower in 2025 than in 2024. Rooms with track views and hotels right on the circuit still cost more, and prices climb as the race gets closer. If you’re setting up a guest hotel block, see our hotel guide for wedding guests.

Thanksgiving is the next week. Race weekend ends the Saturday before Thanksgiving (November 26, 2026), so late November is busy for two weeks in a row. If you want the calmest possible trip, early November or the first week of December is quieter. Our pricing trends guide breaks down the best-value weeks all year.

The Quiet Option

Why a Desert Ceremony Makes Race Week Easier

While the Strip is fenced off and crowded, the desert is empty. Valley of Fire and Nelson Ghost Town are 45–60 minutes outside the city, with no grandstands, no road closures, and no engine noise. November also has some of the best weather of the year for an outdoor ceremony: mild afternoons and soft, early golden hour light.

That makes race week a good time for a desert wedding either way. Fans can marry in the morning and be back for the evening sessions. Couples who don’t care about the race can skip the crowds entirely and head back to the city only for dinner. For more on timing, see how to choose your Las Vegas wedding date.

Common Questions

Grand Prix Race Week FAQ

When is the 2026 Las Vegas Grand Prix?
The 2026 Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix runs Thursday, November 19 through Saturday, November 21, 2026. Practice runs Thursday, practice and qualifying run Friday, and the race starts Saturday, November 21 at 8:00 PM Pacific. It's the Saturday before Thanksgiving week.
Can we get married in Las Vegas during F1 race week?
Yes. The Clark County Marriage License Bureau stays open its normal hours (8 AM to midnight, every day), and desert venues like Valley of Fire and Nelson Ghost Town are well outside the circuit. The main things to plan around are Strip traffic in the evenings, hotel availability, and making sure your ceremony doesn't overlap a session you want to watch.
What's the best time for a wedding ceremony on race weekend?
All on-track sessions run from late afternoon into the night, so mornings and early afternoons are clear. A sunrise or late-morning desert ceremony on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday leaves plenty of time to get back to the city, change, and be trackside or at a watch party well before the 4:30 PM or 8:00 PM sessions.
How bad are road closures on the Las Vegas Strip during the Grand Prix?
Track build starts in early September and teardown runs into December, with lane reductions and overnight closures on and around Las Vegas Boulevard, Harmon, Koval, and Flamingo. During race week, circuit roads close in the evenings for on-track sessions and reopen overnight. Check transportation.f1lasvegasgp.com for current closures, and give yourself extra travel time for anything on or east of the Strip.
Are hotels more expensive during the Las Vegas Grand Prix?
Less than you might expect. Rates were extremely high for the first race in 2023 but have fallen each year since — reported race-weekend accommodation costs were about 24% lower in 2025 than in 2024. Rooms along the circuit with track views still command a premium, and prices tend to rise as the race gets closer, so book early if you want to stay near the action.
Will a desert wedding be affected by the Grand Prix?
Not the ceremony itself. Valley of Fire and Nelson Ghost Town are 45–60 minutes outside the city and nowhere near the circuit. The only impact is getting out of and back into the Strip area, which is easiest in the morning, well before evening track closures start.
