Where to Start

Personal and Logistical at the Same Time

Choosing a wedding date feels like a personal decision — and it is — but in Las Vegas, it's also a logistical one. Desert permits are capped. Spring and fall dates fill months in advance. The right date for you is the intersection of what feels meaningful and what's actually available.

The six factors below are the ones that matter most for a Las Vegas desert wedding. Work through them in any order, but know that permit availability and season often set the outer bounds — everything else fits within those constraints.

LVWC has been coordinating desert ceremonies since 1998. We know which dates fill first, which venues have the most flexibility, and how to find the combination that works for you.

What to Weigh

6 Factors for Choosing Your Wedding Date

  1. 1

    Season and Weather

Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) are peak for comfort and photography. Desert wildflowers, golden light, and mid-60s to low-80s°F temperatures make these months the most popular — and the fastest to book. Summer requires timing your ceremony around the heat: sunrise or golden hour only. Winter is uncrowded, crisp, and surprisingly beautiful. For a full season-by-season breakdown, see our guide to the best time to get married in the desert.

  2. 2

    Date Availability

Wedding dates at our most popular locations are limited per day, and spring and fall weekends book 6–8 months in advance. Weekdays in any season offer more flexibility and sometimes lower overall cost — the scenery is identical, the experience is more intimate. If you have a specific spring or fall Saturday in mind, contact LVWC as early as possible. Everything behind the scenes is handled by us.

  3. 3

    Personal Significance

Anniversaries, birthdays, family dates, and numerologically meaningful years all make a wedding date feel earned rather than assigned. A date you already love is worth the extra planning effort. If you're drawn to symbolic numbers, our guide to 2026's most meaningful dates covers the combinations worth knowing.

  4. 4

    Guest Schedules

If anyone is flying in, school calendars, work holidays, and airline pricing all shift by season. Spring break (mid-March to early April) and Thanksgiving weekend push Las Vegas hotel rates significantly higher. A date that works beautifully on paper may cost guests twice as much to attend. If travel cost matters to your group, mid-week dates in shoulder months offer the best combination of availability and affordability.

  5. 5

    Time of Day and Light

Golden hour — the 60–90 minutes before sunset — shifts by more than three hours between summer and winter in Las Vegas. If photography is a priority, work backwards from the light you want and choose a date where that light falls at a workable ceremony start time. A late-October golden hour at 5:30 PM is easy for guests. A July golden hour at 7:45 PM requires more coordination. See our season guide for exact timing details.

  6. 6

Flexibility on the Day of Week

Saturday ceremonies at peak desert venues book the fastest — often months before any other day. Friday and Sunday ceremonies deliver identical scenery, the same LVWC team, and meaningfully better availability. Weekday elopements are the most flexible option in any season: easier to secure your preferred date, quieter at the venue, and often the most intimate experience of all.

Common Questions

Wedding Date FAQ

How far in advance should you book a Las Vegas desert wedding?
For spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) weekend dates, plan 6–8 months ahead. Valley of Fire and Nelson Ghost Town permits are limited per day, and popular Saturdays in April and October fill quickly. Weekday dates in any season and winter weekends are typically available with 4–8 weeks notice, though earlier is always better.
What is the most popular month to get married in Las Vegas?
April and October are consistently the most requested months for LVWC desert ceremonies. Both offer near-ideal temperatures (65–80°F), exceptional natural light, and the desert at its most photogenic. As a result, they also book the fastest — if either month matters to you, reach out as early as possible.
Can you book a last-minute Las Vegas wedding?
Yes, in many cases. Weekday dates and winter slots are often available with just a few weeks notice. The Sign & Go package — where your officiant comes to your hotel — can be arranged within days. Desert venue elopements at Nelson Ghost Town are frequently available on short notice as well. Valley of Fire spring and fall Saturdays are the most constrained; last-minute availability there depends on cancellations.
Does the day of the week matter for desert permits?
It matters for availability, not for the permit itself. Valley of Fire and Nelson Ghost Town permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis regardless of day. Saturdays are the hardest to secure at peak times. Fridays, Sundays, and weekdays have the same scenic access with considerably more booking flexibility.
What happens if we need to change our wedding date?
LVWC works with couples to reschedule when possible, subject to permit availability at your chosen venue. Date changes depend on what's open at the time of the request. We recommend contacting us as early as possible if your plans shift — the more lead time, the better the options. Details on rescheduling are outlined in your booking agreement.
Are there dates to avoid in Las Vegas for a wedding?
No dates are truly off-limits, but a few require extra planning. Major Las Vegas conventions (CES in January, NAB in April, SEMA in November) fill the city and drive hotel prices up sharply. New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day weekend also see high demand across all venues. These dates aren't impossible — just plan earlier and budget more for accommodations. The desert ceremony experience itself is unaffected by what's happening on the Strip.
