Why Las Vegas

The World's Most Popular Place to Elope — for Good Reason

Las Vegas has performed more weddings than any city on earth. That is not a quirk of history — it is the result of a combination of factors that no other destination can replicate: legal simplicity, extraordinary natural landscapes, world-class photography, and the infrastructure to make the entire process effortless.

Couples fly in from every US state and from countries around the world specifically to get married here. Some come for the speed and ease. Others come for the desert — for Valley of Fire, for Nelson Ghost Town, for the Grand Canyon. Many come for both.

This guide explains why Las Vegas continues to draw millions of couples, and exactly how to make it happen.

The Appeal

Why Couples Choose Las Vegas

No Waiting Period, No Residency Requirement

Nevada makes it remarkably easy. You do not need to be a Nevada resident, there is no waiting period after obtaining your license, and the Clark County Marriage License Bureau is open every day of the year — including holidays. Show up, pay $102, and you can be married the same day.

Extraordinary Landscapes, Thirty Minutes Away

The Las Vegas desert is one of the most dramatic and photogenic landscapes in North America. Valley of Fire's 150-million-year-old red sandstone formations, Nelson Ghost Town's cinematic textures, and the Eldorado Dry Lakebed's infinite horizon — these are not event venues. They are extraordinary places that make a wedding ceremony feel like something much more.

Everything You Need, All in One Place

Las Vegas has the most concentrated wedding infrastructure on earth. LVWC has been handling every detail — photographer, officiant, florals, permits, and coordination — since 1998. You arrive, you say your vows, and you leave married. No vendor sourcing, no separate bookings, no coordination headaches.

Intimate or Spectacular — You Choose

Las Vegas accommodates every vision. A private sunrise elopement on the Eldorado Dry Lakebed for two. A micro-wedding for twenty at Valley of Fire. A helicopter ceremony above the Strip at golden hour. A once-in-a-lifetime ceremony on the floor of the Grand Canyon. The range of experiences available within an hour of the Strip is unmatched anywhere in the world.

How It Works

Getting Married in Las Vegas — Step by Step

01

Get Your Marriage License

The Clark County Marriage License Bureau is at 201 Clark Ave, downtown Las Vegas. Open daily including holidays, typically 8 AM – midnight. Cost is $102, cash or card. Both parties must be present with valid government-issued ID. No appointment needed.

02

Choose Your Venue & Package

Browse LVWC venues and select the setting that fits your vision — desert canyon, ghost town, dry lakebed, helicopter, or the Grand Canyon. Every package is all-inclusive: photography, officiant, florals, permits, and coordination are handled entirely by our team.

03

Secure Your Date

A $300 deposit holds your date. LVWC confirms availability and sends a planning checklist. The balance is due three weeks before your ceremony. Free date changes are available (terms apply). Most couples book 4–8 months in advance for peak season dates.

04

Arrive & Say I Do

Your LVWC team handles everything behind the scenes. You arrive at the location, meet your photographer and officiant, and enjoy your ceremony. Marriage documentation is filed on your behalf. Your photo gallery is delivered within the agreed turnaround.

Common Questions

Las Vegas Wedding FAQ

Why do so many couples choose Las Vegas to get married?
Las Vegas combines legal simplicity with extraordinary settings and world-class wedding infrastructure. There is no waiting period, no residency requirement, and the Clark County Marriage License Bureau is open every day of the year. Within thirty minutes of the Strip, couples have access to some of the most dramatic desert landscapes in North America — places that make wedding photography genuinely extraordinary.
How much does it cost to get married in Las Vegas in 2026?
A Nevada marriage license costs $102. LVWC all-inclusive wedding packages start at $850 and include photography, officiant, permits, and full coordination. Packages range up to $4,950 for the Grand Canyon helicopter elopement. A $300 deposit secures your date.
Do we need to be Nevada residents to get married in Las Vegas?
No. Nevada has no residency requirement for marriage. Couples from any US state or any country can obtain a Nevada marriage license. You simply need to appear in person at the Clark County Marriage License Bureau with valid government-issued ID.
Is a Las Vegas wedding legally recognized?
Yes, completely. A Nevada marriage license and ceremony performed by a licensed officiant produces a marriage certificate that is legally valid in all 50 US states and internationally recognized. LVWC officiants handle the complete documentation process.
How long does the whole process take?
Getting your marriage license typically takes 20–30 minutes at the Clark County bureau. The ceremony itself runs 15–20 minutes; plan for 60–90 minutes at your venue including setup, ceremony, and photography session. Most couples complete the entire process — license, ceremony, and photos — within a single day.
What is the best Las Vegas wedding venue for a simplified, stress-free experience?
Valley of Fire is the most popular choice for couples who want a streamlined experience with extraordinary results. LVWC manages the entire process — permits, photographer, officiant, and florals — so there are no separate vendors to coordinate. You arrive at the location and the rest is handled. Nelson Ghost Town offers a similar experience with a more cinematic, character-driven setting.
